Ahoy!  Well, today marks day 7 of our stay in Kansas.  The
actual length of this visit is pretty nebulous.  If we stay
through Wednesday night, we’ll get to see my sister (as she will arrive
home after finishing Calc 3 during intercession).  If we stay
until Friday, we can hang out with Liz and Aiden (who are stopping here
for food and lodging on their way to visit York).  Maybe we’ll
NEVER go back to Arkansas.  Nah, just kidding.

BUT:  Tim did have a second phone interview with a company in
Baton Rouge today.  He feels pretty good about it.  Of
course, they’d be foolish not to hire such a smart, personable, good
looking young man.  The next step is a real live interview.
They said we’d hear from them within a week, either way.  Woo
ha!  Such crazy grown up stuff.

Speaking of grown up:  my baby has two teeth.  TWO!
She got one on Sunday and the next on Tuesday.  Both front bottom
teeth.  We took her to the grocery store today after lunch.
I showed her her namesake–a Papaya.  She was unimpressed.

So, theoretically, we are leaving tomorrow for the great state of
Kansas.  However, that requires some packing and various other
preperations, none of which have I started.  Blasted lazy
me.

The book mentioned in my previous post is a pretty good read.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the ridiculous wealth of our country,
and the lousy job we (I) do at being good stewards of the resources
we’re blessed with.  Mission work, especially in third world
countries is something very close to my heart, and this book deals with
lots of stuff regarding the above.  I don’t agree with everything
in there…but still.  You can even get a free copy here .  Really, free.

Too too late on Sunday night.  Boy is playing Mortal
Kombat.  Seriously.  Use a C.  Drives me krazy.
We’re both officially grown up now–graduated (during a painfully long
ceremony) on Saturday.  Woo ha for that.

I’m getting cautiously excited about moving to Baton Rouge.
(Tim will start the doctoral program in math in the fall, assuming he
can find a job).  Don’t relish the crime, or the stinking
humidity, or the drastic reduction of square footage we can put our
selves and our (too much) stuff in.  I am looking forward to the
colors.  I’ve never been there, but it seems like it must be a
colorful place.  And I imagine that there is jazz music
everywhere…but of course that is just a dumb stereotype that my
yankee self picked up somewhere.  Real Perks: Big city=
better libraries, better food, more 24
hour establishments, public transportation, downtown with some
character, etc.  And there’s a nationally known woman’s
hospital in which to have kiddo numero dos.   And the church
is big and has things like a missions class for kids, and a ministry
whereby the young married couples take care of some things for the
widows.  That’s some cool.

My toothless wonderchild is getting better.  Her nose finally
stopped running.  I love her until my head explodes.  She
makes great talking noises now, and raspberries, and this weird
“ehh ehh ehh” sound.  Tim’s new favorite thing to do is put her up
on her hands and knees like she’s crawling.  She doesn’t, of
course.  But she does look awfully cute on her
pudge-o legs.

I believe the small one is having some teething pains, and for this
reason has been an extra crabby-pants the last few days.  Here,

mostly, right now, she just likes the space bar.  Anyhow.
Nothing new.  Job searching in Baton Rouge, trying to keep up with
the laundry.  Same ol, same ol.  I did feed the Maya part of
a pear today.  She approved.
