So, it occured to me last night as I was reading that there was a big
chunk of my young life where I just accepted that there were hundreds
of years of history where no one got in to heaven. Perfectly
logical, right? Because the church of Christ (as it were) wasn’t
founded until the early 1800s. So pretty much anyone who lived
between the time shortly after Jesus died, and 1800, was pretty
much…ahem…out of luck. Because everyone knows that only
members of the church of Christ go to heaven. I know that no one
ever came out and told me that, but it was a conclusion that wasn’t
hard to come to, given the church atmosphere I grew up in.
I don’t really have any thing insightful to say beyond that, except to
praise God that I finally got close enough to people belonging to
other denominations to discover that their faith was equally as valid
as mine. And we need to be careful that we don’t define the Body
of Christ where Christ himself does not.

I cried after your Aug. 3 blog. I needed to be reminded of it. Thank you my friend. K8

Amen, Rachel. I have been praising the Lord for opening my eyes to things I didn’t see earlier in life when I was a member of the churches of Christ, and for letting me experience things I had not experienced. God is so much bigger than we humans and our puny little minds give Him credit for most of the time. And He is an amazing God!
